The main reason to use a coastlock snap is to allow the angler the opportunity to change lures quickly when cast and retrieve fishing. The snap is attached to the end of the leader and the easy open function of the coastlock design ensures it is a quick and simple exercise to change lures. The other benefit of only using a snap rather than a snap swivel is that there is minimal weight in a snap which has little or no affect on the action of the lure.
