With an affordable price tag and more features then you can poke a peg at, Savage Gear s new Black range caters for freshwater fishos as well as saltwater anglers looking to target inshore species. Starting with the smooth internal gearing and 8 stainless steel ball bearings, the Black spinning reels provide effortless operation even under the strain of a solid fish. Of course, the carbon drag washers will also assist in that department, offering up to 7.5kg of drag in the 4000 models.

To stand up to harsh saltwater environments, they re fitted with a stainless steel main shaft. The entire reel goes through a saltwater treatment - perfect for anglers wanting reliability and longevity.

For line storage, the Black range sports a sleek aluminium spool with convenient line holder clip, and the DURA air rotor ensures even line lay first time, every time. The combination of the two means longer casts, with lighter lures, and less down time untangling wind knots.

The body of the reel is an aluminium frame construction with a carbon body cover to maximise strength but minimise weight, resulting in a reel that can be fished all day without angler fatigue kicking in. The screw-in handle is also a strong aluminium build and can be positioned on both sides of the reel to cater for left and right handed fishos. The handles are matched with a comfortable EVA knob to give anglers a non-slip grip during reel operation.

So for a light tackle reel that punches well outside its weight class, the Savage Gear Black range is perfect for the job.
