This recycled rubber door mat depicts the map of Australia, arbitrarily divided up, reflecting the many different versions and interpretations possible of any national map boundaries. Australia is a richly diverse nation; our state and territory borders are only one possible way to talk about the cultures and languages shared across the country.

This contemporary design was created by Lee Townsend, an Australian Aboriginal artist with roots in Dharug and Kamilaroi country, New South Wales.

She is an educator who believes in using art to start a conversation about cultural understanding. As you journey around this map, it invites you to consider the history of the land you are walking on and the blend of knowledge and culture that has shaped Australia as we know it today.

Our Place Australian Made rubber floor mat is lightweight, easy to move from place to place, and a cinch to clean. Made from a combination of recycled rubber and plastics, all you need to do is wipe it down with a damp sponge or shake the dirt and dust away. As part of the production, they are treated with Stain Guard to ward off any major disasters too.

Whilst our door and floor mats are suitable for indoor and outdoor use, extensive exposure to sun or rain will lead to fading and deterioration over time.

• Made from recycled car tyres and PET drink bottles.
• The print uses the latest high tech printing processes and is durable, permanent and vividly colourful.
• For additional protection, all mats are treated with Stain Guard for protection from spills. The print and mat have an expected 5-year lifespan.
• They may be used both indoors and out, although long-term sun exposure may fade your mat sooner than if kept in the shade.
• Mats can be cleaned with warm soapy water, vacuumed or given a once over with a gerni if very dirty (ensure gerni is held at least 2 feet away from the mat).
