Braid, as the name suggests, is constructed by merging separate synthetic fibres into one stretch of fabric. Essentially, braid fishing line is made using the same actions as one would braid someone s hair. Man made fibres such as Microdyneema, Spectra and Dacron are commonly used. Braid typically has a smaller diameter compared to monofilament line of similar strength and can be easily coloured to suit angler s particular preferences or to suit the conditions in which the line is being used.
