Getting technical - The O'Shaunessy bend is a sproat bend that is forged to increase strength. Sproat bends start out bending with a larger radii and change near the hooks point to a tighter radii. This design strengthens the bend and is the stronger design when compared to other hook designs eg Aberdeen shapes, that may use an equal diameter wire.
