About the Author

Cate Whittle writes fantasy adventures, usually for children and young adults, most of which seem to include dragons. She grew up in the south and west of England, from Dorset and Cornwall to the Welsh border in Shropshire, and is fascinated by the ancient and medieval history of that part of the world, despite moving with her family to Australia in her early teens. Now living with her husband of many years and their youngest child on a beautiful bush property, she continues to draw on that fascination to provide a setting for her stories, many of which blur the line between history and fairy tales. Whilst still in the early stages of her publishing career (Cate is a late bloomer), she has already been placed in a number of competitions, including the Terry Pratchett Prize in 2013, when she got to meet her writing hero -- which was prize enough, even though she didn't win!

About the Illustrator

Kim Gamble is one of Australia's favourite illustrators for children. He has created wonderful artwork for many picture books, including The Magnificent Nose and Other Marvels, The Hottest Boy Who Ever Lived, Joseph, Horrendo's Curse and the Minton books, with Anna Fienberg, as well as the Tashi series, by Anna and Barbara Fienberg, and First Day by Margaret Wild.
